2003 firewall GPO breaking Windows 7
Hi. We are in predeployment testing of windows 7. I have a problem that i have been able to reproduce (but not fix). When I put my windows 7 machine in an ou with our test_firewall_object gpo a number of services fail to start. This isnt an issue with XP machines. Our AD is 2003. The services include BSE, DHCP, NLA and they all give acces denied. I have been able to get some of the services started by going into the registry and adding permissions to certain keys but I would rather understand how to apply this gpo without breaking anything. The half fix (I never got the firewall started but some other services were fixed) came from here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943996 Thanks Drew

Hi, I have never encountered this kind of issue on Windows 7. It works prefectly with firewall policies via GPO. Could you please advise what kind of policy you set on GPO? I will test it on my computer. Also, you may create a new OU and do not apply any policy to it, then put a Windows 7 computer in it=>Set the firewall policy to see whether this make any difference. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
