Hi simonizer ,

The Windows store Apps are downloaded from the Windows update ,so we will get an Windows update issue here.

Apart from running the troubleshoot tool as Kapil mentioned,we also can take the following steps to have a check:

1.Save the following script as a .bat file and run it as an administrator to rename the download.old folder to have a check .
net stop wuauserv
cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
ren Download Download.old
net start wuauserv

2.Run the fix it tool in the following link to reset the Windows update to have a check.
How do I reset Windows Update components?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

If the issue persists, please check the Event Viewer and cbs.log (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS) for more information to troubleshoot this issue .
If you have trouble in analyzing the logs ,please upload them to the OneDrive and paste the link here .

Best regards
