Hello bigneet49,1. When exactly do you get this error?2. Did you make any changes to the computer before you started to get this error? You can try the below methods to fix this issue.Method 1:I suggest that you try to reregister the files that are required to run Windows update and check if you have the same issue.a. Click on ‘Start’, select ‘Run and enter the following command into the “Run” dialog boxregsvr32 wuapi.dllYou should then receive a message to say it was successful. The above process then needs to be done for each of the following commands:-regsvr32 wups.dllregsvr32 wuaueng.dllregsvr32 wucltui.dllregsvr32 atl.dllregsvr32 msxml3.dllMethod 2:Try to run System File checker tool on your computer and then try to run Windows update. You can check out this article that will give you information on 'How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windowshttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228Thanks,Irfan H, Microsoft Answers Support Engineer.
