0x80070035 network path was not found
Re: Vista Machine willnot allow access to XP netbook ona home network. But going the other way works.Fivecomputers/devices work well on our home network but the 6th one has a problem. The HPMini (the only one running XP) recognized all the others and can access them. But although the desktop (Vista HP)sees the HPMINI on the network list, it will not allow access except through the Public folder. When I click on HPMINI I get the error msg "Windows cannot access \\HPMINI" and tells me to check the spelling. "Error Code 0x80070035 The network path was not found." When I click diagnose, the error msg is "Windows sent the request to the DNS server...."All folders are set a share everyone.Things I did to correct problem. MS troubleshooting didn't help much other than take me to an arcanediscussion about DNS. I searched Internet for answers and found an horrendous amount of technical dialog. Some of it I tried. The most promising was offered by several who said that simply turning off the Norton Firewallwould"solve the problem ." Nope, did not work for me.Also, registry problems were mentioned many times. I have Registry Mechanic and run it often. DId not solve the problem.Any help would be appreciated. Although the work-around is to send files to the public folder HPMini (XP) when going from the desktop (Vista) to the HPMini, there are times when I want to access the hard drive of the HPMini from the desktop. That is when I get the error msg. Thanks, Tomtct@usa dot comNetwork:1Desktop (Connects directly to the Internet)2 printers1 Laptop1 PDA1 NetbookTom

Hi Tom, Thank you for posting. Based on my research, please try the following: 1. Ping the HPMini computer from the desktop both with IP Address and computer name to see how it works. Access HPMini computers share with both \\computer name\folder and XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX\folder to see if they are works. 2. Please ensure the firewall on both computers are set the enable File and Printer Sharing. 3. Ensure NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on both computers ==================================================== 1) Go to Control Panel - Network Connections. 2) Right-Click on the connection and click Properties. 3) Find Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Version 4 in the list. 4) Click Properties, and then click Advanced. 5) On the Advanced TCP/IP settings windows, go to WINS tab. 6) Under NetBIOS setting, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and then click OK. 4. Please disable the share and re-configure the sharing on the Windows XP computer and ensure that you have assigned the Full-Control permissions to Everyone on both Sharing and Security tabs of the share folders properties,. 5. This issue can also be resulted by the factor that some third party security software or firewall blocked the access between the Windows XP and the Windows Vista computers. Please perform a Clean Boot to check the issue. How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 How to perform advanced clean-boot troubleshooting in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316434 6. Please ensure that all the updates have been applied on both computers and please also let me know if the laptop on the network can access the HPMini computer. Hope this helps.
