0x80004005 Error when Trying to access Network Share
Everytime I try to access a share from my laptop (Windows 7) to another laptop (Windows XP FLP), I get a 0x80004005 error. I tried disabling the firewall, antivirus, everything, but nothing has worked so far.

Are you attempting to access a NAS over ethernet or wireless connection, or are you trying to access a server via the internet?

I fixed it.Turned on Network Discovery, and now I can access the laptop.

I struggled with this cryptic error today. In my case it had to do with Windows 7 Pro authenticating me for a file share on a workgroup on a first connection, but substituting my domain name in place of a PC name for subsequent accesses. To resolve this, try to map network drive, specify share name, and ask to re-enter authentication info. Then fully qualify user name in workgroup by saying PCWithShare\MyUserName Please vote if this helps, -Greg
