.rar file extension default program
I can no longer open compressed .rar files by using windows. I believe that it can be opened by Windows by right-clicking on the file and choosing the "extract..." options. But when I right click on the file I want to extract, there is no such option. I searched the forums and I found this topic: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistafiles/thread/046ea45c-8e00-4963-9833-1886a2a0c731 The problem is when I checked my registry editor, what it showed was "value not set" for the .rar file. What is the default program for opening it? I don't know how to manipulate regedit. Please teach me how I can fix the registry if that is the problem. Recently I accidentally changed the default of .dll to notepad. Does this have anything to do with the problem I have now? Could you also show me how to restore the .dll back to its original default? I'm afraid what I did will cause problems. This is really a problem because I haven't backed up my files so I can't restore to any point. I'm using an emachine netbook with windows 7 ultimate as a trial.
