.bat File extension defaulted to Notepad when I installed Windows
Tried setting Open With... to cmd.exe in Windows\system32, and that just opens cmd.exe in that folder the bat file is in, nothing happens. Tried: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html and that didn't work. Tried to find the below, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.BAT\ but it doesn't exist:

The HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.BAT\ registry key should not be completely deleted; it's the UserChoice subkey the one who affects the default association. Apply this registry fix to restore the association: http://www.winhelponline.com/fileasso/bat_fix_w7.zip (You should not get any error message when running the .reg file.) Then restart your computer in safe mode and try again. http://blogs.msmvps.com/dmartin/ | http://www.wintecnico.com
