.Net Framemaker installation problems
I am running Windows XP Home with SP3 installed. It is an old machine, 1.4GHz P4 with 1GB Ram. I just use it for internet and a couple of graphics programs. My problem started with Windows Update hanging while trying to install The .Net Framemaker 1.1 update. It took me awhile to find out how to kill Windows update, so that I could use the machine. Update was using all the processing power and RAM my machine has.I then checked to see what update was causing the problem: it was Net Framemaker 1.1. The program did not appear to be installed on my machine. I had versions 1, 1 SP1, 2, 2 SP2, 3, 3 SP1 and 3.5. I found a KB article that said I had to uninstall all the versions to get 1.1 installed. The article said to use the Windows Uninstall Cleaner. I did, but that utility does not do a complete job with net framemaker. I then found another KB article that led me to the Net Framemaker removal tool. It worked. After, cleaning the machine of NFM files, I started to re-install the software. I got as far as 3.0, and now I am stopped. 3.0 won't install without some unnamed Communications package which if it was ever on my machine it was never touched by me. I have searched Microsoft.com in vain, and have not found the missing software. Does anyone out there know what this computer wants, and where to find it?Oh, and as an added bonus, removing and installing net framemaker versions has corrupt my MS Word 2007 and my Kodak Easy Share software. Is it possible that these two need NFM?An added questions: Do I need this software if I am not developing software? And, if not, how do I convince Windows Update to quit trying to install software that I have never had on my machine?2 people need an answerI do too

I just found the name of the communications app I need: Windows Communication Foundation. I searched the download site without any luck.
