-iTunes detecting shared music folder but unable to find contents-
Hello. I am using a black Dell PC and running Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002. On iTunes, I am having this problem (which I didn't used to have) where my computer is able to detect another iTunes music folder on the same network (my laptop's music folder) but is unable to view any contents of this music folder. But, on the other hand, when using iTunes on my laptop I am able to find find and open the music folder of my computer. Going back to using the computer.. Usually, I would click this folder and after a few seconds of loading, it would show all of the music I have on my laptop. Now, I click the folder and there is no loading time and no error messages, it just comes up with a completely blank music page. After moments of viewing this blank music folder, I automatically switch back into my music folder and my laptop music folder disappears and goes undetected. After this happens I can wait a bit for my computer to redetect the folder or I can reload iTunes. But, the problem persists on occurring and I am unable to access my laptop music from my computer. I am assuming this problem is due to either a security feature on my laptop or a sharing issue with my computer. So, to attempt to fix this issue I tried seeing if my black Dell's "Simple File Sharing" is turned on or not. To check this I followed Microsoft Support instructions: 1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop. 2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options. 3. Click the View tab, and then select the Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended)check box to turn on Simple File Sharing. (Clear this check box to turn off this feature) Unfortunately, after clicking the View tab, there was no "Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended)" check box at all. But, Microsoft does say that this option should be automatically enabled and I definitely have never disabled anything manually like this in the past. Secondly, I viewed all of the security settings on my laptop (none of which have been altered recently in any way) and they all seem to be folder sharing friendly. Therefore I am stuck and cannot figure out how to fix this issue. If anyone knows of any solutions to this issue please assist me. Also, if you have had a similar problem, please inform me of how you fixed the issue. Lastly, if you are unfamiliar with this particular issue but you do know how I can check if my Simple File Sharing is enabled or not, please let me know. Thank you very much for your support. 1 person needs an answerI do too
