'The login failed.' when doing Enable-CsComputer

Lync 2010 Enterprise Edition

I am making this server a watcher node for SCOM 2012.

I am following this:

http://lyncdup.com/2013/01/how-to-setup-lync-2010-scom-management-pack-and-synthetic-transactions/

I get up to the "Enable-CsComputer -verbose" step. After running Enable-CsComputer, I get this in the HTML error log:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Connection: Data Source=(local)\rtclocal;Initial Catalog=xds;Integrated Security=True

Error: An error occurred: "Microsoft.Rtc.Common.Data.SqlConnectionException" "Cannot open database "xds" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'domain\user'."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I ran wireshark on the database server and traffic from this server's IP address is not even getting to the SQL server. The Windows firewall is turned off on the SQL server.

This server that will be a watcher node was successfully made a Trusted Application Server.

Hi,

Looks like it try to connect the local SQL server database. So please check if the SQL SERVER services of local server are started correctly.

turns out the server has to have Lync services running and have some Lync server role: http://www.ehloworld.com/1299

we are going to use one of the front ends as the watcher node now. thanks.

I ran into this exact issue.  Running the lync management powershell session as administrator allowed me to successfully run enable-cscomputer -verbose.
