Hi,80070005 is a Permissions issue. Take the ownership of the files you want to copy and check for the issue. To take ownership of a file, follow these steps:a. Right-click the file that you want to take ownership of, and then clickProperties. b. Click theSecurity tab, and then click OK on the Security message (if one appears).c. I keep getting an error code of 80070005 when running sync toy 2.1 between my laptop and desktop but only on one folder. Everthing else syncs. I previously asked this question and was told it was a permissions issue. It said to click on the security tab for the folder but there is no security tab for any folders when I right click on the properties. i am logged on as the administrator. I have checked the box to share the folder with others on the nework.

Hi mountain1000, If the Security tab is not available and you cannot configure special permissions for users and groups, you may be experiencing the following issues: The file or folder where you want to apply special permissions is not on an NTFS drive. You can set permissions only on drives that are formatted to use NTFS. Simple file sharing is turned on. By default, simplified sharing is turned on. Method 1: I would suggest you to format the drive that contains the folder to NTFS format. Here’s more information on that:How to Convert FAT Disks to NTFSMethod 2: How to use the Simple File Sharing feature to share files in Windows XPBy default Windows XP has Simple File Sharing option turned on. If you turn off Simple File Sharing, you have more control over the permissions to individual users.Refer the link below and follow the steps given to turn off the file sharing option. How to use the Simple File Sharing feature to share files in Windows XPThis should help you in viewing the Security tab now. Once this is done follow the steps given by “Manasa P Moderator” to take the ownership of the folder.More information is available at:How to set, view, change, or remove special permissions for files and folders in Windows XP Regards,Divya R – Microsoft Support.Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

This does not seem to work. I have followed the instructions to unenable simple file sharing and the option does not eist on my computer. I click on folder options, then view and there are a number of options but the last one is: Show pop up description for folder and desktop items. There is no: Use simple file sharing. I am using XP Home.
