'Limited' Network Connectivity
I networked my two PC's (one Vista and one XP) together via a single network cable (no router or internet). Then I turned on all the network settings in Vista and disabled/removed all the password-protected sharing and made everything available to anyone, since there was no internet virus problems to worry about. Then I wet to the XP machine and tried to do the same, but in the end, there was a message that I needed to write a network setup disk to format all the other computers on my network the same way. I didn't do that. Then, after I restarted both PC's, the XP machine had a network icon on the taskbar notification area that the network was 'limited or no connectivity', although all the shared files were visible and accessible. On the Vista machine, there ware no messages of the sort. Meanwhile, on the XP machine, only users that were administrators could access the shared items, even though I disabled all password protection and made all shared files available to everyone. My problems: - Why is there an icon in the notification area of my XP machine stating that my network is 'limited or no connectivity'? How can I fix this? - How can I let all users, even ones that aren't administrators, be able to access all shared files? Note: I posted this question in both the Windows Vista and XP forums.1 person got this answerI do too
