Fixes for OE5X often apply to OE6 and for that reason are not updated. Don't let that concern you.Courtesy of Michael Santovec:http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm
All of those have the same cause. Something is screwed up with your address book.
It could be any of several specific problems, which include: - corrupted WAB file - corrupted or mismatched DLL files for the address book - having OE set to use the Outlook98/2000+ contacts instead of the WABfile and there is something wrong at the Outlook end
For specifics, take a look at:

Bruce,Thanks for all the possibilities and solutions, but none of them seem to have any effect at all.Somewhere in my research, a solution was to remove Outlook Express (6) and reinstall, but I don't see it listed to uninstall. Is it now a part of IE8?, and is that my only recourse (reinstalling IE8)?Cliff

Bruce,I had to restart the computer and then I tried Outlook Express again and was able to both access the New Message box, and the contacts area...that was the problem before. ????I guess my problem is solved.I do want to thank you for your help...it is greatly appreciated.Cliff

Microsoft Outlook is also installed.
I see that a reboot resolved your problem but let me ask: Is it Outlook 2003? Do you use Outlook at all (i.e., for mail or for Calendaring)?~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (IE, Mail, Security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ Disclaimer: MS MVPs neither represent nor work for Microsoft
