! Very important usability problem with network and hard disk mounted as folders on an network share
Iclass this as very important problem with network and hard disk mounted as folders on an network share when pressing Back the hard disk mounted folders disappear i have to press refresh 1-3 times before it comes back but some times it never comes back e.g. (host system is windows 7 7100 RC fully patched, windows server 2008 SP2 not R2) network drive is x: or network share for there are 3 hard disk folders in there each one I click on then press back disappears I have to press refresh 1-3 times before they come back some times they never come back I have restart the network to fix this as I can no longer access the disks any more via network share or maped drive (i can still type them into the address bar like x:\disk3 but thats not an work around we are not using linux here) http://m1c8hw.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pErOZXGR7tE2F_ZQ0tLFOqI-fjxYDCmWtSn3tFMADxlU7ZRn5VkCWRDqcd48qAHyt7whT3TbXAsIshLdgd1qDEMFXaEnntKG6/beforeopen.png http://m1c8hw.bay.livefilestore.com/y1p_vyYnu_qY_4NkbDz1XxySj7_dR7AOapEtnPNs6ksXHWkh_n2kqMwJUnZqWlEkdIDP_9GAn1J2vmZYXWPAZ6f3PAsC06Nd47W/afteropen.png this Needs fixing Before you start selling this to the public more importantly this could make companys not take on windows 7 if this problem is Not fixed as I am Quite sure that a lot of companys could be using hard disk folders as i am ------- more info ------this bug affects Vista as well but it recovers with out me having to restart networking or even haveing to refresh the page But the hard disk folder does still disappears , this problem seems to work in tandem with windows 2008 server as this problem did not happen until i used windows 2008 server, the drives are still there on windows 7 but i have to type in disk2 to access it into the location bar (x:\disk2), the main issue seems to be is that vista and windows 7 know that they are hard disk folders as it put an short cut icon on them but when I got back it forgets that they are there, when I was using windows 2003 server it must not report them as hard disk folders as I had no problems before with network shares before and hard disk folders this problem as every has guessed does not affect XP as to why companys do not want to switch to vista based systems due to networking issues (be it workstation or server), but I would really like to help to fix this problem (contact me msn willing to use my 2-3 systems if you wish but you can test this very easily in an VM box) or if your going to fix this in am upcoming patch, as this is an show stopper for companys if there is no work around for it I do some more tests in an VM boxes as well to confirm its not just my server setup as well (fast test from win7 to an VM box running win2008 server does the same, if the server is running 2003 server the network issue does not happen due to windows 2003 server Not reporting network disk folders the same way 2008 does so windows 7/vista does not show them as shortcuts when server is 2003)
