windows servicing identified package KBxxxxxxx service pack not applicable system events
I see a bunch of these "windows servicing identified package KBxxxxxxx service pack not applicable warnings in system events on my windows 2008 server if these are not applicable then why are they being recommended to install??

Hi, It's possible that you have some sort of servicing corruption, can you run the SUR tool, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 and then post the resulting %systemroot%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log (usually C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log) back to this thread. If for some reason that comes back clean, can you post your %systemroot%\WindowsUpdate.log (usually C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log) and your %systemroot%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log ( usually C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to skydrive, http://mikemstech.blogspot.com/2010/08/skydrive-uploading-files-for-community.html The CBS.log file is often large and may exceed the limit for skydrive, in that case, can you either split it into multiple smaller files or compress it in some fashion (rar, zip, gzip, bzip2, lzma, ...) to get it under the limit. -- Mike Burr
