To install the media player, you'll need to install the Desktop Experience. (it's a feature) To install media services you'll need to download it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/serve/prodinfo95.aspx
Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now

First you have to download the proper msu standalone update to the server core. Search for msu standalone update steaming. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2c09fd09-a1d8-4c27-b210-cd16dd778b62&DisplayLang=en You must choose the proper msu to install from one of the six listed (3 are for 64-bit, 3 are for standard x86) one is for standard server, one is for enterprise/datacenter and one is for the administration of the streaming services. Windows6.0-KB934518-x64-Admin.msu 2.8 MB DownloadDownload Windows6.0-KB934518-x64-Server.msu 14.0 MB DownloadDownload Windows6.0-KB934518-x64-ServerCore.msu 10.4 MB DownloadDownload Windows6.0-KB934518-x86-Admin.msu 2.5 MB DownloadDownload Windows6.0-KB934518-x86-Server.msu 13.3 MB DownloadDownload Windows6.0-KB934518-x86-ServerCore.msu 10.0 MB DownloadDownload Then you must activate the core, this does not show up in the server management utility, you must do this from acommand prompt. I used: Servermanagercmd -install WMS This should place it in the server manager. Good luck.
