Hi, You only need to prepare the AD schema with R2. You can install member servers with R2 and use the member servers for creating your DFS. I would suggest you use DFS R2. It works much better that the old DFS. regards, Alan

Hi, First of all, Id like to confirm that you can use DFS on Windows Server 2003. However, please understand Distributed File System (DFS) is a mechanism, which can make it easy for users to access and manage files that are physically distributed across a network. With DFS, you can make files distributed across multiple servers appear to users as if they reside in one place on the network. The files and folders replication and synchronization is based on FRS. If you would like to use DFSR, you will need to install Windows Server 2003 R2. For the document about setting up DFS on Windows server 2003 DC, refer to: Best practices for Distributed File System (DFS) http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/007e4e66-af67-4bfe-bf70-780412aeed6f1033.mspx?mfr=true Creating a distributed file system http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/007e4e66-af67-4bfe-bf70-780412aeed6f1033.mspx About FRS, please refer to: http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/7636aede-a944-4765-8973-40dc1e1f2d561033.mspx?mfr=true Best Regards, morgan
