Is it a domain controller? What error do you see? Please post the error message details. If it is a server OS question and upgrade, please post in the General Server forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/threads Santhosh Sivarajan | MCTS, MCSE (W2K3/W2K/NT4), MCSA (W2K3/W2K/MSG), CCNA, Network+ Houston, TX Blogs - http://blogs.sivarajan.com/ Articles - http://www.sivarajan.com/publications.html Twitter: @santhosh_sivara - http://twitter.com/santhosh_sivara This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Hi, How did you install Windows Server 2008 on the computer? Did you upgrade the current Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 or perform a fresh installation? By the way, please check whether the computer is compatible with Windows Server 2008. Best Regards, Vincent Hu

Hello, I am trying to install Windows server 2008 but when the installation wizard restarts the server i get a blues screen Try using another install media and check again. If you have burned the install media then burn it again and reduce burning speed. If the installation was completed and BSODs appeared then please use Safe Mode and use Microsoft Skydrive to upload dump files (c:\windows\minidumps). Once done, post a link here. Most likely a controller driver issue. Most servers come with tools to prepare hardware for OS installation. IBM - ServeRaid HP - SmartStart Dell - OpenManage Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional Microsoft MVP [Windows]

I'd download the OpenManage ISO and burn a disk, but confirm the correct one via system service tag. You can use this preinstallation media to prepare the machine for operating system installation. Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional Microsoft MVP [Windows]

Can you upload & share dump files (c:\windows\minidumps) using Microsoft Skydrive. Check this article from Dell. Thanks

This is usually due to the incompatible drivers. Its best the you should seek assistance from Dell Directly or else try in there forums for power edge http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/956.aspx http://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin

0x7b is almost always a controller driver issue. Are you upgading or clean installing? With the very large differences in 03 to 08 platform its recommended that you clean install it. Also recommended to use the Dell preinstallation media to prepare the machine for operating system installation especially given the 0x7b issue. Regards, Dave Patrick ....
