You do not need a key for evaluation software. Neither can it be activated, it's fully functional without activation.

Hi, Please note trial version of Windows Server 2008 is only for the testing purpose. As Joachim's said, it dont need a key to evaluate the trial version . After the evaluation period , in order to continually use Windows Server 2008, you need to uninstall the software or upgrade to a fully-licensed version of Windows Server 2008. More information, please refer to: Windows Server 2008 Standard http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B6E99D4C-A40E-4FD2-A0F7-32212B520F50&displaylang=en When the initial evaluation period approaching to end, you can run the Slmgr.vbs script to reset the evaluation period. The evaluation period may be reset (re-armed) three times and extends the original evaluation period by up to 180 days for a total possible evaluation time of 240 days. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click Command Prompt. 2. Type slmgr.vbs -dli, and then press ENTER to check the current status of your evaluation period. 3. To reset the evaluation period, type slmgr.vbs rearm, and then press ENTER. 4. Restart the computer. More information, pleases refer to: How to extend the Windows Server 2008 evaluation period http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948472/en-us For your convenience, you can call 1-800-426-9400 (select option 4), Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. (PST) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Worldwide customers can use the Guide to Worldwide Microsoft Licensing Sites http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/index/worldwide.asp to find contact information in their locations. Hope this helps.
