where is 'runas different user'
hi, i have strange problem. on my two DCs 2008 when i log on as normal user there is not in GUI 'runas different user'. if i use CMD i have access denied when i try run anything with administrator credentials. i checked if is set gpo blocking runas.exe but nope i checked if registry 'Hide Runa As' is set but nope. any tips? thx in adv.Voytas

hi, this is the case - shift+right-click do not work so i am confused. sysinternals tool is ok but why there is problem? how to troubleshoot?Voytas

Hi, What do you mean by "normal user"? If you use administrator, can you see this option? Based on my experience, you may use a free Microsoft utility to provides right-click "Run as" functionality on Windows Server 2008. To do this: 1. Download the ShellRunas utility from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc300361.aspx 2. Extract ShellRunas.exe to your "C:\Windows" folder. 3. Run ShellRunas /reg from the command line to register it in the Windows shell. Now the "Run as different user" option will be displayed in the right-click actions menu. Hope this helps. this is the same what Sree8133 mentioned - sysinternals tool - it works. it is even better, no SHIFT pressing. but i still do not know why native command disappeared.Voytas

i did not check one thing service for runas :) and i found it disabled :) runas as command start working but there is not in gui.Voytas
