volsnap error Event id 25 involving Windows Backup
"The shadow copies of volume D: were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time. Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied." I got that error message over the weekend from a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. It appears a scheduled Windows Backup failed, but the next 2 scheduled backups worked just fine. I'm trying to narrow down the cause of the error to prevent any future backups from failing, and that if any data was damaged in the failure. I also noticed that there are only 2 shadow copies listed under volume D (which gets backed up). I have not checked this server in a while but i would assume more copies should be avaiable. The server has not been shutdown in a couple weeks. Any ideas?

Hello, You can start with following Error message when a Windows Server 2003-based computer has a high level of I/O activity: "The shadow copies of volume Volume_Name were aborted because the diff area file could not grow in time" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925799 Also, I would suggest you to ask this question here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsbackup/threads Please remember to click "Vote As Helpful" on the post if the information is useful to you !
