using 3rd party with AD DS
Can I use a 3rd party DHCP server (non-Microsoft) to host DHCP services for a network that runs AD DS?
I have a small business that is interested in starting a AD DS network but they are using AT&T Uverse (small business) and the router/modem they are using does not allow you to disable DHCP. So the only two options I have is to use the AT&T DHCP
or get another ISP for them.

You may have to configure your DNS server to allow non-secure dynamic updates from your DHCP server. With regard to ADDS, this does depend on DNS, but it doesn't depend on DHCP to function correctly. As long as your DNS server is being updated
successfully by the DHCP server, your network should function normally.

Hello,
it is supported, so you can do it. Be aware that you have to reconfigure the router at least for DNS so it doesn't provide itself or the external DNS servers to the domain machines, these MUST be the domain DNS server, otherwise you run into trouble with
name resolution which result in slow logons, GPOs are not applied correct and still some more.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
