upgrade from windows 8 to 8.1 and now remote desktop client will not connect

Good day,

Situation: Different ISP's, remote VPN connects fine, Ping ALL Workstations, servers, devices with no issues.  Unable to connect to ANY remote desktop connections.
Everything has been worked great until upgrading the Windows 8 update to Windows 8.1.   When trying to connect via RDP, I get a message "An internal error has occurred".  Can still ping any device

Internal Network: Windows 2012 Server Release 1.  All other connections are working fine. Just the machine that was updated to 8.1.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

It sounds like your client is unable to connect? Please run Windows Updates as you will need to update the RDP c

We just installed 8.1 Pro as an update today.  There isn't anymore updates to update. Unless You know of a special update for RDP

Hi,

From the description, after upgrading to Windows 8.1, you cannot remote to a Windows 2012 Server within VPN connection in using different ISP.

1. If it is available, please test to:

a. Take your computer (if it is a laptop) to your company to see if it could connect without using VPN inside internal network.

b. Connect to VPN and test if it will work inside internal network.

This is to see if VPN is related in this issue.

2. Disable Firewall and use the IP of the server system instead of its computer name. If there are other available computers with same or different systems, test if they can connect as well.
