Hello,
Based on my research, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, with built-in Web and virtualization technologies, enables businesses to increase the reliability and flexibility of their server infrastructure. New virtualization tools, Web resources, and security enhancements help save time, reduce costs, and provide a platform for a dynamic and optimized datacenter. Powerful new tools, like Internet Information Services (IIS)7.0 and Server Manager, provide more control over servers, and streamline Web, configuration, and management tasks. Advanced security and reliability enhancements, such as Network Access Protection and the Read-Only Domain Controller, harden the operating system and help protect the server environment to ensure a solid foundation on which to build businesses.

Hi, I really couldnt complain about server 2003. However, since migrating to Server 2008 I have found that Hyper-V and DFS (I know this was available in 2k3R2)have been the two most beneficial technologies allowing straightforward low cost consolidation and virtualisation.I am also happy with the GUI and admin improvements in 2k8, especially the powershell.

Well I LOVE Windows 2003 server which is why I haven't upgraded to Windows 2008. With Vista, Microsoft took away a lot of functionality that is there with XP and the same is with Windows 2008. For example Windows 2008 backup doesn't support tape drives and the File Types tab is gone from it too. The AD doesn't have some of the tabs that were included with XP/2003 including the Remote Install and the Terminal Services. It is just ridiculous how much they removed.I am looking forward to the new Group Policy layout with a central cache instead of creating multiple copies of the same .ADM for each Group Policy. That is one positive change.I am also not into all the "security" that blocks me from doing my job as a network administrator. The changes implemented with SP2 and IE7 were bad enough without all the extra pop-ups and stuff that have been added to Windows 2008.Eventually I will be forced to upgrade to Windows 2008 but probably not until we have the computer hardware to run Windows 7. I will be skipping Vista entirely.Right now Windows 2008 will exist in my test lab only until all the bugs are actually fixed by MS.Cheers,Lara
