Hi, Thanks for posting here. Please check if it worked with perform "ipconfig /registerdns" on your new joined server. you mentioned " its IPv4 address shows up & disappears from DNS ", so if the record of new server existed on DNS server? Thanks. Tiger LiPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi, we tried using 'ipconfig /registerdns' and it is still happenning NOW, on Monday almost all our printers disappeared from our DNS. We just have upgraded our three main DCs that have DNS server and DHCP on them. I noticed that we have tons of EventID 1014 "Name resolution for the name 2.0.0.2.ip6.arpa timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded." and also a couple of EventID1014 "Name resolution for the name SBCSocialServ.org timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded." in our System log. We are still looking for answers regarding these issues. We have 2 DCs as w2k8 R2 and one w2k3 for our domain. Please, HELP!!!

Hi Hugo, Thanks for update. Have you enabled and set the aging and scavenging properties for AD-integration zone on DNS servers ? I suggest to use DNS auditing for records that disappear from the zone. 1.Enable Directory Service Access auditing in your default Domain Policy: a) Edit the Domain Security Policy b) Navigate to Local Policies -> Audit Policy c) Define 'Audit directory service access' for success and failure d) Refresh the policy on all Domain Controllers 2. Enable auditing on the DNS zone: a) Open ADSIEdit (Start, Run, adsiedit.msc) b) Right-click ADSI Edit, and connect to the DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=<domain>,DC=<top level domain> container. c) Expand MicrosoftDNS, and navigate to the location of the DNS zone d) Right-click the zone and choose Properties e) On the Security tab, click the Advanced button f) Select the Auditing tab, and click Add g) Under User or Group, type in Everyone h) On the Object tab, select Success and Failure for access types Write All Properties, Read All Properties, Delete, and Delete Subtree 3. When a record is deleted from DNS, Event ID 566 will be logged in the Security Event Log Hope that’s helpful Tiger LiPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. A new File Server 2k8R2 just joined the domain BUT its IPv4 address shows up & disappears from DNS - Help!! Our DNS server resides in a 2k3 Server. Hi, We have the same problem. We also have the other way around, ie servers that lose their IPv6 adress from DNS. Running ipconfig /registerdns and the record is back there for a while. we have dns scavening running on one dnsserver (DC) and this dns zone have noref and ref-time to 10 & 3 days so it is not the scavening period that groom the dns. Hugo: Did you find out why this happend? !
