ssp2
I have tried installing SP@ 3 times now and it has failed. The code for it is KB948465. The SP2 download page, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948465, states that this is the prerelease version and that you should uninstall it as it will not work as of May 1st 2010. Where is the actual download then as this is the only option given via Windos Update for me. I have an OS of Vista32 bit system if that matters.

Hi As stated in KB article this SP2 is pre-release version. After this MS will release final version of the service pack. For time being you can install this and once final version of the service pack is released you need to uninstall this service pack and you needto install the final one which has no expiry date.RegardsRajesh J S

Hi, According to the description, it seems that you are using the beta version of Windows Vista. You have to uninstall the beta version of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and then install the RTM version of Windows Vista Service Pack 2. Removing the prerelease version of SP2 The prerelease version of SP2 is time-limited software. You must remove the prerelease version of the service pack before you install the final version of the service pack. Also, this software will no longer operate after May 1, 2010. You must remove the prerelease version of SP2 before that date. To remove the prerelease version of SP2 for Windows Vista and for Windows Server 2008, follow these steps: Click Start Collapse this imageExpand this image, copy and then paste (or type) the following command in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER: appwiz.cpl Click View installed updates. Thanks Vince and Rajesh! On e thing I failed to cite previously is the fact that Windows Update, as yet, only offers the prerelease version and that this is the version which will not install. I have checked the SP2 page for additional downloads and it does not seem to contain one for the Vista 32-bit version.I will look in the Vista IT Pro site for more information.Kind Regards,Kim
