When I boot up my system(xp)I get the following message ' sqlevn70.rll is either damaged or corrupt...' what should I do?
Sqlevn70.rll is SQL Server's resource string file. Could you check your SQL Server installation directory (normally, at "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\Resources\1033") and see if the file is in the directory? If yes, could you check if it looks normal (by checking its date modified, size, version, etc)?
Thanks, I checked for the file using 'search' and also copied/pasted the string but the file couldn't be found.
I downloaded sql server 2005 with the hope that it might uninstall any previous versions (yes, I was getting desperate!).
Can I do anything else?
Seems like your server installation is corrupted for some reason. Reinstall SQL Server should fix this problem.
You may try this too: find another SQL Server installation with the same build number, copy the sqlevn70.rll to your SQL Server installation directory to fix this problem(%MSSQL%BINN\RESOURCE\1033).
I get the above error message when starting up. How do I find the SQL library to Uninstll and re install?
Can anyone help me please? This window keeps popping up. How do I uninstall set-up and where can I find it?
I've tried sysyem restore, re-boot, all sorts, it's driving me bananas!
Thanks

"Your SQL Server instalation is either corupt or has been tampered with. (Could not open SQELVN70.RLL) Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem."
I have the same problem-running SQL Server Express 2005 on a desktop with Windows XP Professional XP. Can anyone help? I am going bananas too!
Why doesn't Microsoft just makea copy of the file available for download and manual install?
Thanks.
