for windows server 2012 standard server |
Hi
For 2012 minmum requerments;
min: 1.4 Ghz x64 processor
min: 512 Mb Ram
min: 32 Gb disc
Check for system requirements for Windows server 2012
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn303418.aspx?f=255&mspperror=-2147217396
WSUS min requerments;
processor : 1.4 GHz x64 (2 ghz or faster recommended)
memory : 2 Gb of ram more than what is required by the server
disc : 10 Gb (40 Gb or greater is recommended)
Network adapter : 100 megabits per second or greater
check for WSUS system requirements;
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh852345.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
There is another aspect of choice, namely which applications and operating systems you will update. In time when price of HDD and RAM are relatively low, there is no need to stick strictly with minimum requirements. (Yes, unless you used SSD disk)
In my installation I used RAM 8GB and higher and space for updates was not smaller than 100GB. Ethernet speed at present time is about 1Gbps. I have supported 3-4 operating systems, Office, Visual Studio, TMG, various components and small programs from MS. (I have tested WSUS with the same CPU (reduced power T edition) and the system worked as expected.)
Even if you will have enough space and memory, I recommend to clean WSUS regularly.
Follow installation guides. It payoff.
Remember that WSUS is "slow response" system and wait when scheduled task is done. Use built in tool to do so.)
Regards

Hi,
The database of the WSUS may occupy a lot of RAM if we check a lot of products in the WSUS server.
In my lab, I checked all of the products and classification, database occupies 5GB RAM.
Best Regards.
