single server 2 NIC - one web server - two application
I have a web server with two NICs. I have assigned NIC1 to LAN A and NIC2 to LAN B. Is there any issues with such configuration? 1. i have one SharePoint Application (IIS 7) i have one ASp .Net 3.5 Application (Same IIS 7) 2.actually i have user1,user 2,etc in LAN A and userA, UserB, User1 in LAN B when the user "user1" login from LAN A he should be able to access only Sharepoint. when the user "user1" login from LAN B he should be able to access only ASP .Net 3.5 3. from with in ASP .net application i should be able to access SharePoint. 4. from with in both applications i should be able to access the database server (Typically another machine or it could be same machine) 5. no users should be allowed to access database directly. is this possible? if so Any other pointers for configuring it will be much more helpful? thanks in advance, sahridhayan

Hi, As far as I know, its possible. 2. Create two IPSEC policy for two NIC. For LAN A NIC, if endpoint 1 is from LAN B and endpoint 2 is NIC A, block it . For LAN B, if endpoint 1 is from LAN A and endpoint 2 is NIC B, block it traffic. 3. Networking settings should not affect accessing SAP.Net and SharePoint. It depends your SharePoint and ASP.net settings. 4. Same as 3. 5. This depends on your database settings. Thanks. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Hi, Thanks for the response, I have not included another component, which is Active Directory. Can i configure the same AD for both networks. Thank you, sahridhayan

Hi, Yes, you could. However, the DC should be another server which is not multihomed. Or there may be some problem. Active Directory communication fails on multihomed domain controllers http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272294 Thanks. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
