server 2008 data execution prevention issue
Hi ALL, this is my situation A program requires DEP to be disabled in order to function so i did the following in CMD bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx alwaysoff it completes successfully and i restart the machine. upon start I open CMD and type the following wmic os get dataexecutionprevention_supportpolicy It returns 0 which is Alwaysoff DEP is disabled upon opening the program a window comes up saying DEP has stopped the program running how is this even possible ? Thanks SYSTEM +Dell R610 -48GB RAM windows server 2008 enterprise all service packs available installed to date (23-01-11)

just add an exclusion through Control Panel > System -> Advance System Setting -> Advanced -> Performance -> Settings -> Data Execution Prevention(DEP) box. hth Gregor Stefka

not that simple it is an enterprise based voip contact centre solution .. mitel contact centre client what i have noticed is even when opening the 32 bit control panel it also bombs out stating that DEP stopped it running affected process windows.exe .. could this possibly be caused by some form of hardware based DEP could not find any literature on dell or intels sites Thanks

you can verify hardware dep by following the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912923/ if this does not help, please copy&paste the eventlog entry that is generated hth Gregor Stefka
