Hi all, i am just starting to pick up on server 2008 and just wondering if someone can help me. I need to et up 2008 as the main domain controller and my question is about license the domain controller as in if i have 20 user do i need 20 cals? Thanks, Derek

You can have either user cals or device cals. If you go with user cals you will purchase 20 of them. If you have a smaller amount than 20 of devices from where the users will connect, you will benefit from purchasing device cals. I.e. if you have 20 users but they are working shifts and you only have 7 computers where they will access the server it is sufficient to purchase 7 device cals.
