server 2003 r2 multiple IP problem. secondary ip randomly not accesible
Hi, I have a server 2003 r2 with 12 IP's on the same NIC. The server was running just fine for the last 3 yeard but suddenly IP's except the primary IP on the NIC get unaccessible. We cannot ping the secondary IP's on the server and cannot connect to any services running on these IP's. But the primary IP works without problems. When I restart the server everything is fine again for a couple of hours. Or I go to the TCP/IP properties and change the primary IP to one of the secondary IP's and ping an IP on internet and then change the primary IP to the previous one and that specific secondary IP I changed is running again. If I do it for all the IP's it's OK without restart. I hope I could explain the issue.. What might be the problem?

You need to provide more information. Why do you need more than one IP? Where are you accessing this server from? Please post the IPCONFIG/ALL. Do you see any error message in the event log? “can’t access the system” -> can you ping server using IP address? Thanks for your reply.. It's a web server with multiple secure web sites so we need multiple IP's normally I can ping all the IP's but when there is problem only the first IP on the NIC can be pinged the others do not reply. When I restart it's all OK again. Or change the primary IP to one of the secondaries the IP starts to reply to ping.
