security templates vs group policy
Hi All,I know you can add "security templates" such as "hisecws.inf" to group policy however I have a question:if you deploy a security template manually using secedit, ie: NOT using group policywhich security settings are enforced?the settings in the security template? or your normal group policiy settings for that server?also: for a NORMAL server (2003 server on the domain) -- NOT a DC, just a member server, which security template is recommended?can I use the hisecws (even though its for work stations) or should I use the DC template (I realize I can modify the settings) just wonderedwhich one was better.thanks,Luke.

Regarding your first question, deployed security template settnigs are enforced. This dependsfrom your security requirements only, so you can use any of security template or create your own template.[http://www.sysadmins.lv]
