secedit on R2?
Hello, I have used secedit since win 2000 I think, all the way through doing some server 2008 automation last year. I have to do some R2 automation now and I figured I should check to see if secedit.exe is still a valid option. So far, I just verified it is actually there on R2, but have not used it yet. 1. is secedit.exe still a valid option for importing/applying security templates in R2? 2. should my security template made for 2008 work as-is for R2? Or should I expect to have to tweak some things?

1) yes. Windows Server 2008 R2 contains secedit.exe utility.2) yes, this template should work without any issues. The only limitation that you will unable to set policy settings that are available in R2 only.http://www.sysadmins.lv
