As you would expect, SBS is a special version of the server OS designed for small business. Active Directory is the directory service on which domains are based. SBS must use Active Directory and must be a domain controller. You cannot use it as a workgroup server or add it to an existing domain.Bill

From my understanding its mean that Windows server 2003 is used for large group environment. Small Business Server(SBS) 2003 is used to limit the number of users and capacity. Am i rite??? devika

Hello Devika, Yes you are rite Windows 2003 is meant for large environment and SBS is meant for small organization who cannot afford to have licensing for other appliactions on top of Operating System like ISA.EXCHANGE and lot more, so they are intended to purchanse sbs becasue its all bundled to gether. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842690. The limitation for the SBS is 75 users :) http://www.microsoft.com/sbs/en/us/faq.aspxhttp://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin

Hi, Yes, SBS 2003 = Windows Server 2003 Standard + Exchange Server 2003 + WSUS + ISA 2004 Standard (premium) +SQL Server 2004 (premium) While it also have integrated console and wizards for user, computer, configuration and backup management. It is intended for those small business (less than 75 users) who want to take advantage of mail system, database system and information collaboration based on Windows platform. It will be much more cost effective than you purchase and deploy them separately.
