robocopy - keep folders compressed
hi all is there a way to use robocopy and keep the folders compressed as they were in their previous location? I'm using it on Windows server 2003/2008

Hello, AFAIK you can't during copying/moving data to a new location the data will be uncompressed and you have to compress it again after the copy/move. That may be achieved with a script running after the process. Aggghhhh, was hoping there is a switch i can use in robocopy that would do this for me...thanks for your response anyway Meinolf

If the destination is NTFS you can configure the target drive or folders for compression before copying. Robocopy will probably take longer but you will end up with the result you want.
