register this connections ip address in dns
In windows you can select/deselect a network card to dynamically register its connection's IP address in AD-DNS. But what about a scenario where I have two IP addresses on a single network card? My server will have 1.2.3.4 and 5.6.7.8 on the same NIC, but I dont want clients trying to contact it via "5.6.7.8" so I need to ensure this isn't included in the dynamic DNS update (so it won't be included in the client DNS response).
Registry setting? Something obvious I'm just overlooking?

I see someone has a similar concern:http://forums.technet.microsoft.com/en-US/winserverPN/thread/99590315-e196-4748-aaac-6819a19ed6c9/furthermore, it looks like the setting is controlled here:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\DNSRegisteredAdaptersAnd the only choice is to have the adapter listed here or not. Not sure if any of these keys allow for further specification of exact IPs.

We finished this project last year, but what I eneded doing was using two NICs. left normal registration on the first NIC and added all the IPs I didnt want registered on the 2nd NIC and disabled registration on the 2nd NIC. This worked well and I would use this approach again.

it looks like you can change this behavior now.

All IP addresses are registered on the DNS servers when the IP addresses are assigned to one network adapter on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 SP2 or Windows Vista SP2
