profiles - remote desktop
Hi all, we have a AD 2008 R2 Server, a windows 7 client and a 2008 Remote Desktop (Terminal) Server. If a use logged on the Remote Desktop Server the windows 7 profile is use and all desktop Icon now on Terminal Server? We look at Users AD Setting but there is other path on "Remote Desktop Services User Profile - Profile Path". Why does Windows 7 profiles and Remote Desktop Profile mixed? chrisChris

Hi, Please help clarify the following questions first: 1. Does the issue occur for one user or all the users who access the Remote Desktop Server? 2. Did you set the Remote Desktop Services Profile via AU User Properties or via Group Policy? 3. Are there any errors in Event Log? Please check it. Please first check whether the Remote Desktop Services Profile path is valid. After logging onto the Remote Desktop (RD) Server, please check whether you can access the RD Services Profile folder for this user. If you have set the RD profile path via group policy, please check the path defined. Please note that the Group Policy setting will take precedence over the setting configured in Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration or on the Remote tab. If the issue persists, please check the Event Log on the RD server for further research. The following link might be helpful: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee890890(WS.10).aspx Please also help gather the following files on the RD server. Event log on the RD server ------------------------------------ 1. Click "Start", click “Run”, input "eventvwr" and press Enter. 2. Expand the "Windows Logs" node on the left pane, right-click on "Application" and click "Save All Events As"; in the pop-up window, click to choose the Desktop icon on the left frame, input "app" in the "File name" blank, and then click save. 3. Right click on "System", with the same method, save it as "sys". 4. Locate the two saved log files on the Desktop and send them to us. GPMC Log -------------------- a. On domain controller, click Start -> Run, type GPMC.MSC, it will load the GPMC console. If the GPMC snap-in is not installed, b. Right click on "Group Policy Result" and choose wizard to generate a report for the RD server and problematic user account. (Choose computer and select the proper user in the wizard) c. Right click the resulting group policy result and click the "Save Report…" => save report to save the report to a HTML file. Please locate the saved files for research. Upload these file to the following workspace. You can upload the information files to the following link.
