profile help
Hi all, We are going to change workstations from Windows XP to windows7. We have roaming profile hosted on \\server\users\user1\profile on the Windows 2003 server I just tested my account to logon Windows 7 and I saw Profile.V2 folder created and does all items on my desktop of my previous roaming profile be copied to Profile.V2 folder? any other issues should I pay attention? Thank you for your help.

Roaming profiles are not all compatible with each other. Windows XP and Windows 7 have different standards pertaining to the profiles and will cause the new folder creation you see above. This has to do with the namespaces that were in XP that are no longer available in Windows 7. E.G. My Computer > Computer My Videos > Videos My Desktop > Desktop Documents and Settings > Users

Hi Brenton, Thanks for the help. So, Windows 7 profiles will not have all settings from old XP roaming profile if users log on to Windows 7 computer. I need to manually copy some settings such as desktop etc to Windows 7 Proflie.V2? Is there a better way or utility to do it instead of manaully copying? Thank you.
