processor queue length - server 2008 ent VM
we are currently in the process of migrating all of our iis infrastructure to Hyper-V HA environment. we have a nlb with 5 IIS 7.5 webservers (shared configuration) and nlb with two ftp 7.5 servers (shared configuration) file servers are in a failover configuration. I monitor processor queue length via WMI and on servers when troubleshooting. and get readings that bounce between 2 and 5. we have increased the number of processors available with no change in results. i have been here: http://forum.sysinternals.com/high-cpu-alarms-by-processor-queue-length_topic22073.html and followed the links provided and not understanding any help would be great!

Hi, From the description, I can’t get your concern completely, please help me to collect the following information so we can perform the further research. 1. Have you transferred all the physical servers to virtual machines? 2. How many Hyper-V server is used to host these virtual machines? 3. How many physical processors are configured on the host server? How many virtual processors are configured on these virtual machines? 4. Is the Processor Queue Length retrieved from the virtual machines? 5. Do you experience any performance issue for these virtual machines? Do you experience high CPU in virtual machines? 6. Do you experience any performance issue for the host machine? Do you experience high CPU in host machine? By the way, to plan the migration, you may download and install the MAP Toolkit for Hyper-V: Microsoft Assessment and Planning (MAP) Toolkit for Hyper-V http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/solutionaccelerators/dd537570.aspx Meanwhile, the performance monitor in Hyper-V environment has some slight difference from that on physical machine. Please refer to the following links on Hyper-V server performance monitoring: Measuring Performance on Hyper-V http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc768535(BTS.10).aspx Monitoring Hyper-V Performance http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tvoellm/archive/2009/04/23/monitoring-hyper-v-performance.aspx Best Regards, Vincent Hu
