problem after installing windows server 2008
Hi
I have installed windows server 2008 enterprise by the vmware workstation but after installation when I login there was just a command prompt window writing :
C:\users\administrator
and nothing else .
please help me .

I think you have done with core installation so kindly re-install it again in full mode.

I dont get you about re-installing in full mode .
please explain more.
I tried to boot again from windows dvd but I couldn't .

Hi Iman ,
When we start Windows 2008 Setup it gives us installation options and we can find there are two types of options available in setup
01. Core Installation
02. Full Installation
You have installed it in core installation mode so start re-installing it and when it will ask about installation type then put there full installation not core installation.
I hope your problem will solve.

Hi,
When you try to install Windows Server 2008, there are options you can choose. You can install the core installation/full installation of Windows Server
2008.
As Shafaquat mentioned, you may installed a core installation of Windows Server 2008.
By the way, you can use the following method to identify the version of Windows you have installed.

Hi iman!
As per your query reg win, have u tried opening the root drive from task manager to check whether system
files are installed or not. then you can try the reinstallation of os may help you regarding this prob, and
ctrl+shift+esc (task manager, new task ->chk the root drive)
