network-share availability up/down
Hi All,I'm experiencing trouble logging in XP-clients to windows server2003 domain because off the network share containing the profiles are continously switching up/down.Here's the situation:The xp-clients are in a network 192.168.1.0. The windows server is in a network 172.16.5.0The xp-clients receive an ip-address in the 192.168.1.x range from a linux server which acts a router between the 2 networks. The linux machine is needed, because the xp-clients must also be able to pxe-boot as linux thin clients. When logging in to the windows domain, the clients sometimes have trouble loading the profile from the windows server because the share seems to be available only 50% of the time.If I bypass the linux server and let the xp-clients receive an ip from the windows server everything works fine.Any ideas?ThanksGert

Hello, According to your description, the root cause seems all related to the Linux server. I am sorry to say that I have little knowledge on Linux and we may not be the best resource on this issue. You may need to contact Linux vendor companies to efficiently resolve it. Just for your reference, we do have seen some problems relating to the differences between Windows operating systems and Linux operating systems. For example, you may see that the UNC path is changed, "//" on some Linux DHCP service while "\\" on Windows DHCP service. You can download Microsoft Network Monitor from the following link. Capture the network packages when you encounter the problem. Compare these packages with the packages when the Logon process works well to narrow down the root cause. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=18b1d59d-f4d8-4213-8d17-2f6dde7d7aac&DisplayLang=en This way you can find out what packages cause the problem and then find the relevant service.
