mstsc and console logon failed: The user profile service service failed the logon. user profile cannont be loaded
I have been searching the net for a solution for this problem and can find solutions for Windows 7, Vista, server 2003 SP1 but not windows 2008 R2. Out of the blue certain adminsitrators, including me, can't logon to two of our servers. Not through RDP or Console. on the logon screen we get this error: The user profile service service failed the logon. user profile cannont be loaded event viewer on the server has the following errors: Log Name: Application Source: Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles Service Date: 23-09-2010 12:45:57 Event ID: 1500 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: User: CPHPCSYSAD\cajeadmin Computer: cphmgmt.cph.pcsys.dk Description: Windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded. Hi, Are you using Roaming profile? Please check if the following KB article helps: 947215 Error message when you log on to a Windows Vista-based or Windows 7-based computer by using a temporary profile: "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded" http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;947215This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Hi, This issue can occur if 1) the local profile is corrupted. 2) the local profile is deleted as the KB mentions in the CAUSE session. Is there any administrative account available to logon the server? If so, you can check if the local profile of the problematic account is there and if the value of ProfileImagePath is correct. If they are correct but the issue persists, I suggest that you backup the data in the profile then create a new profile for the users using the steps in the KB article. Hi Casper, The first error message you posted states that it cannot find a file. Are there any file errors whatsoever in the preceding og subsequent events when the events you posted are logged? Best regards, Anders

problem solved.... The server i couldn't logon to was a exchange 2010 server. when a new user profile is being create the default profile want to copy a *.sqm file from C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Configuration1816_100.sqm to location C:\Users\heer\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Configuration1816_100.sqm. but can't because it doens't have access to that folder and so the profil creation fails. My boss figured this out from another danish article somewhere and i thought i wanted to share it here. Maybe it was down that path you were going Anders :) Thanks for your help :)

That was exactly what I was going to suggest... Delete the files mentioned in the events, and the problem goes away :) Best regards, Anders
