Hi guys
We have server 2000 sp4 which is additional domain now, has WINS,DHCP,DNS server roles, and I have also first DC Server 2003 R2 which is DNS,WINS, global Cat, I would like to get rid of server 2000 and get new one,(2008 r2), what I would like to do
is 2008 R2 is First DC with (DNS,active directory, DHCP) and 2003 is secodary additional DC,
Can you advise me what kind of scenerio I should be planning.

Hi ,
I would first plan for domain restructuring using windows 2008 R2 as domain controller.
even before understanding the process involved ( transitioning or inplace upgrade ) i would re design and move to single forest architecture.
I understand that you are having 2 domains
domain a - windows 2003 ( forest )
domain b - windows 2000
you are adding additional domain in the existing windows 2003 forest , for which the first step would be
a) prepare the forest for win 2008 R2 by running running adprep/forestprep ( this is used to extend the ad schema ) , browse to windows 2008 r2 cd under sources/adprep
b) perform adprep/forestprep , adprep /domainprep/gpprep , adprep/domainprep , adprep/rodcprep.

Thank you for your answer,
How about the DHCP server on Server 2000,Do you think should I migrate DHCP role to 2003 then migrate to 2008? or Should I kill the all roles on server 2000 because it is a secondary domain then I can reconfigure DHCP on 2008,
What i means was basicly I kill the 2000(power -off) then install 2008, then make it primary DC.

Hi,
I think reconfigure DHCP on 2008 is also available. For migrate DHCP database, you can refer following step-by-step article:
How to move a DHCP database from a computer that is running Windows NT Server 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows Server 2003 to a computer that is running Windows Server 2003
