HI all. Our domain (windows 2003) has an ip range of 192.168.20.x /24 and the workgroup has an ip range of 100.242.x.x /16. I placed a router between the two and can ping from domain to workgroup and back. Now i want to make a drive mapping between the two. example I share a folder on IP 100.242.1.1 (everyone full control, share and ntfs). Then i tried to connect from for example 192.168.20.1 to \\100.242.1\shared_folder and it doesn't work! Can anyone help me with this please?? Maybe it just isn't possible to do this because it are two totally seperate networks (all execpt the router inbetween). Can anyone give me some tips, IM DESPERATE. PS: I'm sure all the settings and config are right Thanks

Then i tried to connect from for example 192.168.20.1 to \\100.242.1\shared_folder and it doesn't work! Can anyone help me with this please?? Sorry 100.242.1 needs to be 100.242.1.1 Could it be because the pc at the workgroup is a windows server 2000 machine? There's another one that's a server 2008 and i can connect to his share's for example \\100.242.1.50\shared_folder .

Is that Windows server 2008 host also domain member ? Try mapping remote patch with specify the user credentials by using net use command. Assuming you have got an account “administrator” with password “Passw0rd1” on windows 2000 host, so try performing the command line below on windows 2003 domain host to see if it will work ,please also make sure this account has been granted NTFS and sharing permission to access that shared folder: Net use * \\100.242.1.50\shared_folder “Passw0rd1” /user:100.242.1.50/administrator Net use http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490717.aspx Thanks. Hit Tiger Li Thanks for answering. Also tried mentioned above. But found the problem already, if interested: There were 2 physical paths to the remote pc (100.242.1.1). when connecting it went passed the router but it came back via a different route (between a couple of switches and bypassing the router). The error message was network drive no longer available. Fixed the network design issue and made sure all trafic has to pass the router. Then tried to map the drive and everything was ok now. Thanks
