manually add NLB node
having a bit of a problem with VM and NLB. im using VM Server and any
network changes cause it to freeze up (known issue, cant find a way to
resolve it), so when I went to add the server to the NLB it locked it up,
now when it boots there is no network connection because its half
configured. I have yet to figure out why the connection doesn’t work, but
something to do with what the NLB wizard did...
any idea how to resolve this so I can finish the process of adding it in?
Thanks

1. I would recommend to resolve the first problem and then the second one
2. You have not given any specific data about the server used and the same is true about the network configuration
3. The are known problem with Broadcom NICs and I would figure out here with additional NIC settings, namely the disable the
IPv4 Large Send Offload setting.
4. I have found that many problems with network did solve the vendor's NIC driver. To name one, it was vlan functionality. Check carefully what the integration tools support in virtual NIC functionality.

its a VMWare Server setup, so im forced to use the Intel e1000 NIC, which,
has a known problem of locking up the VM when network changes are made in
win2k8 R2. I would love to fix that problem, but I have no choice. VMware
has yet to resolve it. if you have ESX you can select a different adapter
but in looking for a resolution all I've found is posts on the VMware site
saying its a problem, with no resolution.
so as the node is remotely configured and network settings are changed the
VM locks up, upon reboot there is no longer any network access (im sure due
in part to the partial network config for the NLB) so, if someone knew the
particular settings required in an NLB, I could probably get it back online,
and then once the nodes see each other I would assume (and hope) that they
try to validate and point out any issues (as I've seen it do with other
issues)
sorry I should have been more clear on what I was looking for. not so much a
solution to the problem but more so an understanding of the network config
of an NLB node.
thanks for responding.
