long running windows update

I am trying to run Windows Update for  " Security Update for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (KB3045313) ".

The update has gotten as far as the message  " Installing updates ...  ".

Another message reads " Installing update 1 of 1 ... ".

I got these messages on Friday 07-17-2015 around 10 PM.   It is now Sunday 07-19-2015 around 1:30 AM.

The update function has been running more than 27 hours.

Is this a normal amount of time for this update  or  am I wasting time waiting for this update to end ???

If I am wasting time, can anyone tell me how to get this update to run correctly ??

Ok, simple shut down and start again, I had same issue on my laptop and second time the update completed successfully or you can disallow this update to be installed on that PC.

Hi,

Can you post output of below query

select @@Version

Also I am not so fan of updating sql server via windows update mechanism. You can download the patch from This Link

And try running it manually. Download it and right click on it and select run as administrator
