Hello, Here are some information for your reference when you join a Windows Vista client to a Windows Server 2003 domain. 1. Please verify that Windows Server 2003 domain works normally. 2. Connect your desktop computer to the secure wired network which can be routed to the Windows Server 2003 Domain controller. 3. Then Logon your desktop computer with its local built-in administrator account. 4. Change TCP/IP properties of the Network connection and verify that the Preferred DNS server is set to pointed to the DNS server which holds the SRV records of the Windows Server 2003 domain, generally speaking, the DNS server is the domain controller. a. use Control Panel-System and Network and Sharing Center to do the following: b. Click Manage network connections c. Then right-click the local area connection and select properties. d. Double-click Internet Protocol version 4 e. Set the preferred DNS server to your network DNS server. (properly is the domain controller) 5. Then use Control Panel-System and Maintenance-System to do the following: a. Under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings, click Change settings. b. From the System Properties dialog box, click Change. c. In the Computer Name Changes dialog box, type the computer name in Computer name. Click Domain and type the Active Directory domain name. d. Click OK. e. When prompted, type your domain name and password to join the computer to the domain. f. Restart the computer when prompted. g. When computer is restarted, it automatically authenticates to the wired network using the computer's domain account credentials or certificate. Please note: Typical wired clients need either domain credentials (name/password) or a certificate to perform authentication for secure wired access. To join the domain and receive domain credentials or certificates, wired client computers need a successful connection to the wired network that contains the domain controllers of the domain. To access a secure wired network and join a computer to a domain, we may need to manually provide their domain user name and password. Once connected to the wired network, the wired client user can join the computer to the domain. For more reference, please check the following online document.
