installing Windows Server 2008
I need to install Windows 2008 Server as one of the requirements for evaluating another software product. I would like to install it on an existing machine that is currently running Windows 7. If I download and install an eval copy of Windows 2008 server, will it destroy or overlay the current Windows 7 OS? Is there something I have to do to keep the Server separate from what is currently running on my pc? Thanks,

Even if you succeed to install it on your computer, you will find problems to find the most appropriate drivers. The best way to proceed is to create a virtual environment (like me). You can use Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1 if it is a 32 bit version. If you will use 64 bit OS then Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 does not support it. It is for that I recommand to use other virtualization solution like VMWare Workstation. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights. Hello, use a Virtual machine instead on the physical one for testing. This will keep Windows 7 intact and the VM can be deleted after test.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
