Hi my server is windows server 2003 R2 SP2 I download a hotfix that has .msu files for server 2003 but i can not install it!!!! how can i solve this problem!?!!

Hi, The .msu extension is associated to windows update installation program. You need to associate this file type with the 'Windows Update Standalone Installer'. Do following steps: - Right click the .MSU file and select Open With. - Click the Browse Button. - Navigate to C:\Windows\System32. - Select the 'wusa.exe' file. - Select Open. This should add the 'Windows Update Stanalone Installer' to the list of programs. Select this program and make sure the 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' check box is selected. Click OK. I read below instalation in link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953592 but when i run sms2003-sp3-kb953591-x86-enu.exe error "kb95359 setup error: This does not appear to be a Systems Management Server oradministrator consol." occur . my user is member of administrators group in server!!! and when run sms2003r2-cupt-kb953592-x86-enu.msp error "Windows Installer: The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch." I see system32 folder but it is no any wusa.exe file in there!!! The following section provides information about how to install this hotfix. 1. Extract the following two files from R2MSUSupport.exe. · SMS2003R2--KB953592-X86-ENU.exe · SMS2003-SP3-KB953591-X86-ENU.exe 2. Install SMS2003-SP3-KB953591-X86-ENU.exe on the site server. A package starting with name KB953591 will be created. Create an advertisement to distribute this hotfix (patchinstall.dll) to the client computers. 3. Run “SMS2003R2--KB953592-X86-ENU.exe /X” to retrieve the following file: · sms2003r2-cupt-kb953592-x86-enu.msp 4. On the Custom Updates Publishing Tool computer: • Run “sms2003r2-cupt-kb953592-x86-enu.msp” command to install the hotfix (publishingtool.dll). Four “existing rules” (see article KB953592) are added with the installation of the hotfix.
